Proven Goods Co. Doughnuts

Proven Goods Co. doughnuts are possibly the best sweet treats in the Toon.

No seriously! For a gal who isn’t into doughnuts as much as brownies or cake etc. I would choose this place time and time again.IMG_0182

The spectacular doughnut company has quite literally taken Newcastle by storm when it started out on the Sunday Quayside markets where I would consistently miss out on trying a doughnut because they always sold out so quickly.

Not only were Proven Goods supplying to the locals at the market, but they also did and still do deliveries to local eateries such as Kith and Kin and Fenwick Food Hall.

The demand and popularity of their sensational doughnuts allowed Proven Goods Co. to open up their bakery in Hoults Yard to the public which has been made into a permanent coffee hang out. An hour of free parking allows customers to come, relax and simply devour one of their many flavoured doughnuts

From pecan pie custard, Nutella stuffed, snickers to classic vanilla Proven Goods is super creative. For Christmas this Geordie brand have come up with some winter specials including a twist on the classic with spiced berry jam. Vegan doughnuts are also on offer which on my visit my friend took full advantage of with the biscoff-glazed doughnut.

The doughnuts are on sale from Wednesday to Sunday starting at 10am till 3pm. On weekdays the coffee hangout is open from 9 but doughnuts will be served an hour later. However, don’t be fooled into thinking you can risk going at the end of the day. I would recommend going early as the handmade doughnuts are available until the run out!

I couldn’t resist trying the double chocolate orange. A chocolate and orange zested dough is filled with chocolate orange infused custard and then topped with a 75% dark chocolate and orange zest button.

The girls went for the classic vanilla custard which was a million steps above a usual vanilla custard doughnut and the vegan biscoff-glazed one. These all cost around £2.50 each. A box of 6 will set you back £12.50, 12 doughnuts are priced at £22.50 and if you really can’t get enough a box of 48 cost £42.40.

Deals are also available with a filter coffee and a doughnut of your choice for just £3.50. However, I think you would be mad to miss out on what I have claimed (and many others) the best hot chocolate of all time. The hot choc fluff is £3.80 of local organic milk, freshly made then toasted marshmallow topped off with chocolate shavings. Absolutely DELICIOUS!! There are also alternative milks available such as almond milk and the fluff is veggie!
